What is fear? Fear is an unpleasant emotion caused by the threat of failure, humiliation, pain or conflict.
Fear is an emotion that can hold teams back from being high performing.
There are many techniques for facing a fear.
One of my favourites is one we used quite often at the Beehive Foundation.
Imagine your fear as a birthday or Christmas present.
Until you actually open it, you don’t know if it’s going to be good or bad.
You might get a pleasant surprise.
So when you are facing a fear, try to recall the excitement of unwrapping a gift.
The relief, anxiety elimination, the learning, the personal development that could come as a result can be extremely rewarding.
Finally, a strong leadership trait is creating a safe environment that enables your team to face their fears.
