I have known Rob since we worked together at the REA Group Since then, he has been my client at NAB for a couple of years where we ran countless Ignites We enjoyed working together so much that we joined forces 18 months ago to form AdaptivOrg. In our Ignite workshops, we make an awesome tag team. Our styles are very different, opposite even. I bring the energy and noise, Rob brings the thoughtful, analytical science that underpins building an effective team. And together, we transform teams. We have known each other for well over 14 years. However, it’s only recently from working together closely that I have learned the following about Rob: When we were kids, both our dads worked in the British Navy (they may even have crossed paths). He was a champion cricket player. He has a large dog that could eat a small country (or at least drown it in slobber). He constantly risks his life exploring the tightest, darkest underwater caves. Last week I asked you all what your favourite musical was – I don’t think Rob has ever seen a musical. Both Rob and I will tell you that a foundation of trust is key to building effective, high-performing teams and establishing a personal connection is one of the first steps you can take. So todays post is another reminder to get to know your peers, make that personal connection, and find your common ground. Ask a fun probing question at your next stand-up.
